Antigua and Barbuda adds Russia to list of visa-free countries

The Antiguan Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov have signed a visa waiver agreement to remove all travel restrictions between the two countries. 

Once effective, the Antigua and Barbuda passport will be one of the most powerful passports in terms of landmass, which will count the Antigua passport’s overall landmass-access score from 25% of the world to 37%, resulting in pushing the Antigua and Barbuda passport 5 spots, from 10th to 5th, in terms of total visa accessible landmass. This agreement is a significant opportunity for Antigua and Barbuda passport holders enter one of the world’s largest markets in a country that contains over 145,000,000 citizens. 

With this visa waiver agreement, Antigua and Barbuda become the fourth Caribbean country to gain visa-free access to Russia for its passport holders. In other news regarding Antigua and Barbuda passport, Antigua and Barbuda issued an advisory concerning the commencement of a recall of all machine-readable Antigua and Barbuda passports as a result of a decision to discontinue the dual use of machine-readable and e-passports, the decision is in effect from June 1st, 2019. 

The machine-readable document will become invalid on December 31st, 2019 to facilitate the phasing-out process, as only e-passports will be valid for travel as of January 1st, 2020. 

Antigua and Barbuda passport allows its holder to travel to more than 150 visa-free destinations.
